This 16,804 hectare national park is found at the
mouth of the Tempisque River in Guanacaste. It features
low limestone hills and extensive brackish marshes.
One of the most important sites for aquatic birds
on Earth. It has annual flooding forming the marshes,
in fact the marsh area of the park was sea only 7,000
years ago. There are two administrative centers and
access by good gravel road.
