A
biological reserve in San Ramon de Bagaces, 15 Km
SE of Bagaces in Guanacaste, founded in 1986. The
reserve has an area of 2,279 hectares and contains
a dry tropical forest, particularly rich in insects,
especially bees (259 species) and nocturnal moths
(60 species). There are four flora associations:
savana (grassland with scattered trees), evergreen
forest, riverside forest and dry tropical forest,
the later being by far the most extensive.
