This
refuge lies near the Pacific port city of Golfito.
It has an area of 1,309 hectares and is astraddle
a huge geologic fault forming a cliff which reaches
almost 400 meters high and is 13 kilometers long.
The
trees here often reach great dimensions, some being
the black manwood or manu ( Minquartia guianensis)
and the butternut (Caryocar costaricensis).
Different felines, coatis and pecaries are common.
There are no facilities in the refuge but lodging
markets and small stores can be found in near-by Golfito.
