Cabo
Blanco Absolute Biological Reserve is found on the
extreme southern point of the Nicoya Penninsula in
the Province of Puntarenas. Created in 1963 this reserve
has 1,172 hectares of land area and 1,790 hectares
of sea.
This
is a reserve for flora and fauna of the Dry Pacific
Region and of the marine species of the area. Amoung
the trees of the area the nispero (Manilkara zapote),
pochjote (Bombacopsis quinatum) and espavel
(Anacardium excelsum). In all, 119 tree species
have been reported in the reserve. Among the fauna,
the birds and marine species are most notable.
